Will Texas Medicaid Pay For Gastric Bypass/weight Loss Surgery?

I am on SSI and receive Medicaid. I am needing to have weight loss surgery and the only insurance I have is Medicaid. Does anyone know if there are doctors in the Dallas/fort worth or even east texas area that will accept Medicaid for the gastric bypass surgery? Or are there doctors who donate the services for free on occasion?

Try Parkland Hospital Weight Loss Program. Parkland does take Medicaid. You have to meet certain criteria. It may take a while to get in and I think JPS has a program also. Methodist Medical Center has a weight loss program (I don’t know what it takes but the hospital itself takes Medicaid) Also, try your PCP, that would be a good place to start. I had Medicare and I had surgery 4-16-08. So good luck on your journey…
